Initiation cycle

From the beginning, the start of musical education lets the student discover the chosen instrument.
This exploratory year focuses on the fundamentals of playing and practice, specifically posture and practice habits.


It is essential to adopt a stable, healthy and pleasant posture in correlation with the pleasure of learning.
At the end of the initiation cycle, an evaluation resembling a passing audition will confirm the passage of the student to the first cycle.

The first cycle focuses on a systematic progression associated with development of certain musical skills and physical fundamentals.
- Training of memory, coordination of actions, and ear-training exercises.
- Exploration of a varied repertoire covering different periods in the history of music.
- Score analysis.
- Participation in the proposed auditions (optional).

The end of the first cycle is validated by the teaching team. It involves:
- a continuous progress evaluation over the two years.
- an exam and audition at the end of the second/third year, based on a predetermined program.

First cycle

Second cycle 

Reiterating the skills from the previous cycle and building new skills on top of previous ones.
- Development of musical competences, techniques, and motor skills, continuing from the first cycle.
- More thorough analysis of more complex music pieces.
- Work autonomy and increasing search for instrumental quality.
- Discovery of a wider repertoire including contemporary pieces.
- Participation in the proposed auditions (optional).

The end of the second cycle is validated by the teaching team. It involves:

- a continuous progress evaluation over the three years.

- an exam and audition at the end of the third year, based on a predetermined program.

Third cycle

Reiterating the skills from the previous cycle and building new skills on top of previous ones.
- Research of the instrument repertoire.
- More independence in terms of choice of pieces and development of a personal practice method.
- Playing virtuoso pieces.
- Participation in the proposed auditions (optional).
- Complete analysis of music.
- Stress management and public performance coaching.

 

The end of the second cycle is validated by the teaching team. It involves:

- a continuous progress evaluation over the three years.

- an exam and audition at the end of the third year, based on a predetermined program.

Advanced Cycle

​- Multiple opportunities to participate in concerts.
- Autonomy in work, development of projects and concert repertoire.
- Capacity to incorporate all elements of practice from previous cycles.

- Proper performance of different styles of music.
- Critical evaluation of one's own interpretation.
- Mastery of instrumental ability and technical skill.

Music theory

- Continuous monitoring during studies.
- Exam at the end of each cycle (optional).
